Description
Episode 1: Living art-scientists look to insects for knowledge. Businesses capitalize on their economic value. And for many photographers, painters, sculptors and designers, insects offer something quite unique: their beauty. Episode 2: Silent partners-after years of trying to eradicate insects, humans are gradually realizing that these tiny creatures can instead be very useful partners in everyday life. From medicine to robotics and even police investigations, see insects and humans working hand in hand. Episode 3: Myths nd legends--cultural entomology is a science that studies the role of insects in our imagination. Georges Brossard takes the viewer to Ecuador to explore South American folklore inspired by insects through the ages. Episode 4: Invertebrate inventors--what are mankind's greatest inventions? The wheel, agriculture and breeding? Wrong. The Dung Beetle invented the wheel and the Ant first used agriculture and breeding. Insects have led the way in chemistry, engineering and architecture. And, actually, they should hold the patents for air conditioning, paper, silk, ballasts, cold light and syringes.
