Description
His concern for the underdog made him a hero to the masses and an enemy of the establishment. He is one of the most celebrated writers in history. He illuminated the plight of America's forgotten citizens, and in so doing, became one of the most recognizable and important voices in literature. His activism and outspoken opinions made him persona non grata in his own home state by the end of his life. His novel, "The Grapes of Wrath" is one of the most banned books in history. It is also one of the most important.
