Description
When his stepfather is murdered, Brady Wilkes is the prime suspect since he stands to inherit the wealthiest ranch in Kansas. Operating under the guise of a law-abiding citizen, Lou Spearman is more dangerous than he lets on. In cahoots with a dishonest Cavalry sergeant, Spearman is boss of a horse-swindling operation. He is also the only person who can provide Brady with an alibi, but he ain't talking. Brady's in way over his head, and his only alibi could land him even deeper in hot water. If he confesses to the sheriff that on the day his stepfather was murdered he was conning honest ranchers into shady horse deals, he risks being shot by one of Spearman's gunslicks. But if he doesn't come clean, Brady will face the hangman's noose.
