Description
"American Impressionism in the early twentieth century is laced with artists' names such as Childe Hassam, John Stringer Sargent, Mary Cassatt and Frank Vincent DuMond. Frank Townsend Hutchens, a plein air painter of portraits, landscapes and figures, while skilled and prolific, remains a relatively unknown artist in the Impressionist movement. That is until now. William D. Hutchens, Frank Hutchens' great-nephew, has painstakingly reconstructed Hutchens' life through his letters, citations and artwork. Born in Canandaigua, Frank Hutchens studied at the Art Students League in New York as well as the Academie Julien and Academie Colarossi in Paris. He exhibited at noted museums and galleries including the Paris Salon, the Royal Academy in London, the Corcoran Gallery and the National Academy of Design. Hutchens was associated with art colonies in Tunis, Taos and Silvermine, Connecticut. Discover the development of Hutchens' art and his continuing influence on the art market today. Included are pictures of his residences in Connecticut and France together with over 100 color, black & white and sepia tone photographs of his artwork" -- from Amazon.com
